ABC London’s Foundation Diploma is an officially recognised pre-university course accredited by UAL (University of the Arts London). It is designed to support students in developing essential creative, technical, and academic skills required for progression into top art and design institutions. Delivered by experienced lecturers from UAL, RCA, and other elite institutions, the programme integrates studio-based learning, portfolio development, and UCAS application preparation. 

Our Art & Design Foundation course is fast-paced and provides you with an innovative, intensive, and inspiring experience. The course encompasses a wide and exciting range of skills and knowledge in a creative environment. Alongside thorough preparation for interviews, this prepares you for entry into further studies.

We aim to provide students and parents with peace of mind. Since the course was established in 2020, at least 80% of students per year have received offers to join UAL.

Course Structure

There are two intakes each year: Autumn and Spring. The course is be taught over 9 to 18 months, including the 6 core modules and 12 weeks of intensive training, either online or blended, full-time or part-time. It is a flexible course that can be tailored to your needs, giving you the opportunity to develop your personal style and practical skills.

What You’ll Learn

Two-Year Extended Foundation Course

For students aged 15+

Ideal for younger students or international learners needing more preparation. Extended learning time means deeper development of artistic voice and portfolio excellence.

  • Target Age: 15+ (Completed junior high school or GCSEs x3 including one art subject) 
  • Start Date: Spring / Autumn intake 
  • Duration: 12 to 24 months (based on student pace: fast or standard track) 
  • English Requirement: IELTS 4.0+ (minimum 4.0 per skill) or ABC internal language test with preparatory course
